Cedar Grove Mother Will Not Serve Jail Time

Drug treatment and probation instead of incarceration

A Cedar Grove woman accused of committing aggravated assault upon her young child was spared jail as part of a plea bargain struck between prosecutors and her attorney.

Citing family turmoil and substance abuse, Judge Michael Ravin, J.S.C. of the Essex County Superior Court accepted the plea agreement, which provided for three years of probation and continued treatment for drug and alcohol dependency. The daughter was reported to be in good condition and the hope is for the family to be reunited.

The woman was represented by Hackensack attorney Kevin G. Roe.

"She has resolved to change her life," Roe told Ravin.
